Statement from the meeting of Anglican Bishops in South Africa

In late February a conference of bishops concerned with the environment was called by the Archbishop of Cape Town in South Africa. Lead Bishop for the environment and chair of the Environmental Working Group Bishop of Salisbury Nicholas Holtam attended on behalf of the Church of England. A joint statement was released in Holy week as a call to action for our dioceses, provinces and the world-wide Anglican Communion.

Diocesan Environment Officer Conference and Declaration

On 17th & 18th October 2013, Diocesan Environment Officers (DEOs) from 26 dioceses came together for the annual National Conference at High Leigh, Hertfordshire. The conference is organised by Shrinking the Footprint, the national environment campaign for the Church of England.

Energy Audit Report Launched

This morning, at the annual Bishops’ Environment Group Breakfast at St Hugh’s College, Oxford, the Energy Audit Report was launched to over 40 Bishops.

The report has been produced to detail the carbon footprint of energy use in the Church’s built estate for 2012/13 and has involved more than a year of gathering energy data from buildings across the county as part of the National Energy Audit.
