Energy Audit Report Launched

This morning, at the annual Bishops’ Environment Group Breakfast at St Hugh’s College, Oxford, the Energy Audit Report was launched to over 40 Bishops.

The report has been produced to detail the carbon footprint of energy use in the Church’s built estate for 2012/13 and has involved more than a year of gathering energy data from buildings across the county as part of the National Energy Audit.

Warming and Greening our Churches

A pioneering conference on making South West churches more energy efficient was held in Exeter.

Eighty participants attended the ‘Warm, Affordable and Green’ conference held at the re-ordered St Stephen’s Church in the High Street.

Church gets heating bills paid for 20 years!

Parishioners at a church in the North East of England can expect to be warm for the next twenty years without paying a penny.

St. Alban’s Church in the village of Earsdon near Whitley Bay has secured a government subsidy which rewards organisations that invest in green technologies. Last year St. Alban’s installed a state- of- the- art biomass boiler which runs on wood pellets and heats the church and adjacent community hall. The church spent more than £150,000 on the new system which replaced an old gas boiler.
