Carbon Footprint

A carbon footprint is an approximation of total greenhouse gases produced by an organisation.

The 2012/13 carbon footprint for energy use in the Church of England, as calculated for the National Energy Audit is based on:

  • 15,779 churches
  • 8,246 Clergy houses
  • 4,484 primary and middle schools
  • 193 secondary schools
  • 42 cathedrals and chapter properties
  • 1,577 church halls
  • 42 diocesan offices
  • Church House, Westminster
