Many churches have been altered and changed through the centuries, reflecting changes in the community and society around them.
Considering making a change to your church building - perhaps by providing modern facilities, additional spaces or reordering the worship space - can be an exciting time. But changes require careful consideration and consultation.
The guidance and advice accessible via the menu bar on the left will help you to understand your building and explain the processes involved in making changes to a church. For guidance on introducing new art into a church please see the section on Art, Artefacts & Conservation which can also be found on the menu bar to the left of this page.
Once you have permissions in place and are ready to start major alterations, renovations or repairs, it's important that you inform your insurer as soon as possible. If you are insured by our sponsors, Ecclesiastical Insurance Group, you will need to complete and return a questionnaire which you download by clicking here.
