Clocks

A turret clock makes a positive contribution to an area around a church, and will often be a strong visual and aural presence in a community. A programme of simple routine care, annual maintenance and, very rarely, more extensive work should keep a well-made turret clock working for many years.

Much of the information in the guidance note is for mechanical (clockwork) turret clocks. If you have a more modern electric (or synchronous) maintenance may be necessary to the dials and hands (section 5) and to the bell hammers, if necessary (section 6).
