Supporting over 16,000 cathedral and church buildings of The Church of England

Cathedral and Church Buildings Division

The Cathedral and Church Buildings Division, led by the Bishop of Worcester, supports the conservation and development of the Church of England's cathedral and church buildings for worship, mission and community engagement.

We provide the secretariat for three statutory bodies: the Church Buildings Council, the Council's Statutory Advisory Committee on Closed and Closing Churches and the Cathedrals Fabric Commission for England.

We campaign on behalf of cathedral and church buildings, with the Government, Church, Historic England and heritage bodies to keep church buildings in their vision and to ensure church buildings' interests are taken into account.

We aim to be strategic, to add value to the work of cathedrals, dioceses and parishes where national initiatives can make a significant difference and always to be outward looking and service orientated.
